6 am. Ohio. Gonna be a hot one when you see a sky like this:
Daniel prepared specimens we collected yesterday while I went to see what the meadow behind the hotel had to offer.
What did you have to do to get your breakfast this morning? The meadow was teeming with freshly spun spider webs with spiders waiting patiently for a snack.
The collecting was good too...dogbane and clover...
...milkweed and rue...
...and other goodies for a roadside bouquet...
..which I left on the ice machine in the hotel with a note saying "the meadow is alive." So perhaps someone will be inspired to explore the lovely ecosystem out back.

ROADSIDE BOUQUETS -- WHERE THE WILDFLOWERS ARE. Two friends. One a botanist. The other a consultant with a flexible schedule and an interest in wildflowers and flower arranging. We collect and preserve specimens of flowering plants. We find them in vacant lots, roadside ditches, culverts, swamps, woods, hillsides and fields. Along the way we explore the small towns of America. And arrange some flowers to brighten the truck interior or leave behind to say thanks.
